Brentley Warren, 19 months, at his last chemotherapy session at UNC Chapel Hill Oncology Pediatrics Unit on Monday, August 29, 2011.  Brentley has been in treatment since he was nine months old.

  • Joshua Rea, 10, gets slightly overwhelmed while trying out the quill and ink set.  Soon, he got the hang of it and was scribbling away. Cumberland Mills Elementary School held a colonial-themed day on Monday, September 27, 2010. "The Colonial Camp" group came and gave over 100 4th graders a day filled activities including candle making, clothes, and quill and ink writing.

  • Alexis Matthews, 10, from Nashville Elementary school, reacts to the demonstration milking cow. The Farmer's Market hosted the 10th Annual 4H Agriculture Heritage Day, where over 1,000 4th graders from Nash County came and learned about farming techniques and how life use to be at the turn of the 20th century.  Thirteen stations included milking, beekeeping, sewing, washing with a wash board, and more.
  • Salutatorian Kany Whitehead celebrates with her diploma.  North Edgecombe High School held their commencement exercises on June 11 at Keihin Auditorium at Edgecombe Community College.
  • Cooper Carnahan, 10, holds his father Ken's hand while playing on a jumper as his brother Kasey, 8, looks on while swinging.  Cooper doesn't really interact with his two brothers directly majority of the time, according to Ken.
  • Kristopher Simms is preparing to graduate from Edgecombe Community College with a Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • R. E. Collier Jr. talks with a group of students, including his granddaughter, eleven year old Bailey Williams, background, during Military Appreciation Day hosted by Nashville Elementary School  on Thursday.  Mr. Collier served in the Air Force from 1961-1965.
  • Shy Lovely, left, comforts Daven Dancy during a Rally Against Violence on Saturday in front of Sammy's Food Mart.  Owner Rafiq Salim 'Sammy' Soufan was killed early Tuesday morning outside the store.
